Finland's second-largest daily newspaper Aamulehti was closely aligned with the conservative National Coalition Party until 1992, and still leans towards the right today. In 1998 its publisher merged with commercial television broadcaster MTV to form Alma Media, the second-largest company on the Finnish media market after the Sanomat group. The paper switched to tabloid format in 2014, and its editing team now cooperates closely with other regional dailies.
