French economist Denis Clerc founded the newspaper Alternatives économiques in 1980. It is famous for its anti-globalisation standpoint and was involved in founding the French NGO Attac. Thanks to a content reorientation - that is less ideological, and more didactic - it became the magazine of the year in 2018 and gained new readership. Alternatives Economiques is owned by its employees.
