About euro|topics / Concept
euro|topics is the online service on European topics provided by the Federal Agency for Civic Education Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung/bpb). euro|topics informs about political, cultural and social debates in 28 countries (the EU plus Switzerland). The daily press review provides
Europe-wide access to debates and opinions that have received media coverage only at a national level. In this way euro|topics promotes trans-European discussions and the development of new networks for media, cultural and political exchange.
euro|topics has an extensive and constantly growing archive of almost 14,000 press review articles and other contributions at its disposal. A media index comprising nearly 250 newspapers, magazines and blogs and a detailed author index optimise the search for European thinkers and debates.
For the working day press review, editors and correspondents comb through the most important print and online media from 28 countries and select relevant opinion pieces, reflections, essays and commentaries. In their articles, they explain the circumstances of the discussions and translate
appropriate quotes. If possible, a link leading back to the original article is provided.
The press review aims to contribute to the establishment of a pan-European public sphere and to provide a realistic picture of the national debates and discourses in each country. To this aim, articles are quoted from European newspapers, magazines, blogs, etc., that are perceived to be relevant by the public in the countries in question.
The press review is published in five languages (English, French, Spanish, Polish and German). It can be obtained as a free Email newsletter.
