Prince Charles likes Transylvania too
During a visit to Transylvania in central Romania two weeks ago, Prince Charles, the heir to the British throne, praised the tourist potential of the region. Romania must finally make attract more tourists to Transylvania, writes Cosmin Alexandru in the weekly paper Revista 22: "Britain is the sixth most popular tourist destination in the world, with around 30 million visitors each year. The heir to the English throne has told us we have something even the British don't have. ... [Romania's minister of tourism] Elena Udrea wanted to meet Prince Charles but unfortunately this didn't happen. I hope she has a good contact in the royal family so she can still ask Prince Charles a few questions we are burning to ask: how would he organise tourism in Transylvania if the region was part of the UK? ... After all, the UK earns over 20 billion euros a year with tourism. ... Transylvania is beautiful and still has some areas that have not been opened up to tourism. But the answer is not to build more hotels in this region."
