The cultural roots of Europe
The book 'Culture f the Europeans' by the historian Donald Sassoon has just been translated into Spanish. Luis Alemany considers the voluminous work (1,900 pages) that is proposing "An integral history of culture consumed by Europeans from 1800 to nowadays. ... Sassoon gives an account of history in which are mixed together Goethe and the television program 'Star Academy', the 20th century novel and Oasis, Vivaldi and Harry Potter. ... In fact, 'Culture of the Europeans' is a precise work that pursues a single goal: to demonstrate that the general publics of different European countries (and not just the elites that created them) were connected to one another well before the word 'globalisation' was ever pronounced'".
