The Mafia is more dangerous than terrorism
In an interview conducted by Alain Lallemand, Pino Arlacchi, founder of DIA, an Italian anti-Mafia agency, consideres that the danger posed by organised crime is underestimated compared to the threat of terrorism. "We have reverted to the situation back in the early 1980s when we were principally preoccupied by terrorism. 35 % of terrorist acts in the world were taking place in Europe. The terrorism phenomenon in Europe today is no longer capable of actually destabilising a country, and for citizens, the chance of one day being a victim of terrorism is 1 in 80,000. Meanwhile Europeans fall victim to organised crime everyday. ... Organised crime is a thousand times more dangerous than terrorism, ... but the public does not perceive it as a major threat."
