Jean-Christophe Bailly against biodiversity adjusted to productivity

The French writer Jean-Christophe Bailly ponders the notion of 'biodiversity'. "As soon as this diversity manifests itself, no one tolerates it: with the avian flu, migratory birds are accused although we know very well that the epidemic develops above all because of absurd farming conditions. But, all of a sudden, it has been decided that it would be best for all animals to wear the same uniform, be vaccinated and not roam all over the place. Do we really want to preserve biodiversity? Do we fully comprehend the significance of Hundreds of hectares of vineyards in California without a single living insect? A planet entirely adapted to productivity which at the same time is reducing its means to actually feed people."
