Agoston Faber on the dangers of the Internet

The Internet's potential to provide a space for discussion between all citizens is far from exhausted, says Agoston Faber: "On the Internet everyone can express their opinion, even those who can't express themselves on television, radio programmes or in the press… However, Internet sites which are based on a rational, unprejudiced exchange of opinions between equal discussion partners – where the talker is happy to listen and the listener is happy to talk – are the exception rather than the rule… At the same time there are many sites that offer a platform for self-presentation, where people blow their own or others' horns.... Such sites are a redundant space for the democratic media; they re-feudalise the media."
