Gas Dispute between Russia and Ukraine
In a commentary, Estonian politicians Hardo Aasmäe, Igor Gräzin, Heiki Lindpere and Juhan Parts suggest extending Estonia's sea borders by three nautical miles to prevent the construction of a gas pipeline between Germany and Russia. "This measure would be of a purely legal nature, and we want to avoid this subject taking on a political dimension in Estonia and abroad. But at the same time we don't deny that we are motivated by the desire to prevent the construction of a German-Russian gas pipeline that runs under the Finnish Gulf and bypasses Estonia – a project that was conceived under very strange circumstances. It has to be said that the former German chancellor's decision to take up a post with a Russian state-owned company is highly suspect."
