NRC Handelsblad
The newspaper arose with the merger of the dailies Nieuwe Amsterdamsche Courant, Het Algemeen Handelsblad and Nieuwe Rotterdamsche Courant, and was modelled on quality papers like The Guardian, The Times and the Süddeutsche Zeitung. In 2006 nrc.next was brought out for a younger readership. Prior to 2009 the paper belonged to the publishing group PCM, which was then bought out by the Belgian Persgroep. NRC Media was sold in 2010 to the Brenninkmeijer family's investment fund Egeria (C&A) and the private TV channel Het Gesprek.
