Aftonbladet

This tabloid belongs to the Norwegian media group Schibstedt. The emphasis is on scandals and investigative journalism. In the first years after its founding its publisher Lars Johan Hierta's main goal with the paper was to help defend the liberal opposition against the power of the royal family. Aftonbladet sided with Hitler until well into the Second World War, mainly out of fear of the Soviet Union. When the umbrella organisation of the Swedish trade unions (LO) took over the newspaper in 1956 it took on its left-liberal orientation, which it still maintains under its current owners.
