Voxpublica
The blog portal developed in September 2009 from the right-wing liberal daily Cotidianul (= daily paper), which was closed down shortly afterwards. The anti-communist dissident Ion Ratiu founded Cotidianul in 1991. In 2006, after the paper was taken over by the media trust Realitatea-Catavencu, it changed its political orientation. Ahead of the presidential elections of 2009 the owner of the publisher (businessman Sorin Ovidiu Vantu) ordered the editing staff to back the Social Democratic Party (PSD), hoping to guarantee his business interests through a change of government. Even today commentaries against the undesirable election winner are part of Blog Voxpublica's daily routine.
