Give Poles a better image abroad
A Coca Cola ad aired on Spanish television has caused an uproar in Poland because it depicts a Polish construction worker living in Spain as a poor day labourer. Agnieszka Mazurczyk of the left-liberal news portal Polityka Online warns people not to overreact: "This is above all a signal that we should try to give our country a more positive image abroad, to put an end once and for all to this primitive notion other countries have had of us for years. Nevertheless I would be careful to avoid exaggerating while defending Poland's national dignity. Because this was simply a television commercial that was made according to its own laws, which exploit stereotypes and oversimplifications. There's no such thing as objectivity in this sector anyway. We should save our heavy ammunition for the more important battles."
