The process of reconciliation between Romania and Hungary
Hungarian and Romanian government representatives met for a second time on Thursday to discuss relations between the two countries. Tibor Kis is happy the meeting took place at all: "When you consider that relations between the two countries have always been marred by mistrust, even the tiniest step towards building a common basis of trust is a welcome development. However, after the meeting it was clear that the time for constructive dialogue about the past has not yet arrived. Only once a certain basis of trust has been established can the process of reconciliation between Hungary and Romania really begin. Other nations have been successful at doing this, so there's still hope."
