The weight of the Muslim vote in the French presidential elections

The Swiss Ian Hamel has just published 'The truth about Tariq Ramadan', the famous Islam specialist. Jean-Noël Cuénod has written a review of this book, seizing the opportunity to request more political engagement from Muslim voters in France. "The last chapter is dedicated to the Islamic vote in France. ... In this frenetic period of presidential campaigning, this subject cannot be avoided. According to [Ian Hamel], Tariq Ramadan suggests that the Muslim vote is an illusion. If Ramadan is not in favour of creating a Muslim political party in France, we still believe that the Islamic vote - not Islamist! - has become an important factor. In what way is the emergence of a Muslim pressure group in France shocking? On the contrary, the creation of an Islamic lobby seems indispensable for the introduction of new citizens to the mechanics of democracy."
