To work, Mr. Sarkozy !

It has been exactly one hundred days since Nicolas Sarkozy became president of France. What can be said of his performance so far ? For the editorialist Jacques Julliard, it is time for Sarkozy to "take responsibility", as the economic situation is getting worse: "We would have liked to see the state of grace, naturally suited to courageous decisions, to be better exploited. The fact is that the opportunity has been lost. Nicolas Sarkozy has been doing 'stunts', not politics. Once he has finished his flying trapeze numbers, and stopped reducing his ministers and collaborators to useful idiots. ... He will have to come back down to earth and face up to the fact that everything is yet to be done. France is indeed on the verge of a difficult period with heavy handicaps: it hasn't settled its social accounts and, unlike all of its competitors, it hasn't reduced it's debt, on the contrary. Neither has it taken the indispensable measures for a revival."
