Hungarian right-wing extremists found the "Hungarian Guards"
The "Hungarian Guards", a paramilitary organisation under the patronage of the ultra-right Jobbik party, was "sworn in" at Budapest Castle last weekend. Former Defence Minister Lajos Für presented each "Guard" with a membership certificate. The "Guards" wear a black uniform bearing symbols used by the Hungarian Nazis of the 1930s. There are suspicions that they are arming themselves in preparation for a coup against the Hungarian government: "It's sickening, we must protest loudly. Some are trying to soothe their fears, saying that history won't repeat itself. And it's true, there's no need to fear that the fervour of those times will reignite. But people who aren't repulsed by the idea of paying tribute to the Hungarian Nazis of the Second World War are very dangerous - not only because of the Nazi symbols on their uniforms. These people have brutally attacked homosexuals, proponents of the legalisation of cannabis and leftist demonstrators and in future will beat up anyone who isn't a member of their organisation."
