Young Polish Art
Twozywo, one of Poland's best-known groups of artists, is exhibiting a retrospective of its work in the Warsaw Museum of Contemporary Art (CSW). For Dorota Jarecka its art is praiseworthy, if not yet fully mature. "This group is a phenomenon. It uses a cocktail of Russian avant-garde, modern advertising and industrial safety posters from the times of the People's Republic to convey anti-consumerist and anti-globalisation messages... Its weakness lies in the fact that its message lacks a political target. It's intended to get people to reflect on things, but nothing more, and as we know, such an approach has a debilitating effect. Reflection undermines the will to act and destroys the desire to win, but it also encourages people to assume responsibility. This phenomenon is silently gathering force. It's momentous, unique and crystal clear."
