Bartoszewski to the rescue of Polish foreign policy

As the new Polish government led by Donald Tusk braces for a parliamentary vote of confidence on Friday November 23rd, Yves Pétignat looks at the future for Polish foreign policy. "[Donald Tusk] promises smoother relations, especially with [Poland's] German and Russian neighbours. A first sign is that he is flanked by former foreign minister, 85-year-old Wladyslaw Bartoszewski for 'missions impossible'. ... Wladyslaw Bartoszewski has been dubbed 'Wonder Weapon' by Poland's foreign ministry because of his sheer force of belief. ... He will doubtless be involved in the four major issues facing foreign minister Radoslaw Sikorski and which the prime minister intends to follow personally: the US missile shield, Germany, Russia, and the North Stream gas pipeline under the Baltic Sea."
