Andrzej Stasiuk bids farewell to the reign of the twins
According to Andrzej Stasiuk the fun will go out of Polish politics now that Donald Tusk's government is taking over. He writes that he will miss the Kaczynski twin's (one of whom, Lech Kaczyński, is still in office as president) double rule. "The brothers at the helm were theatrical beings. Each of their gestures, each word, each appearance had an element of drama. They could be funny, as if they were in a comedy, but never trite like in a soap opera. In their chubby bodies and under the masks of their childish faces seethed emotions that banned the boringness of modern politics to a shameful, hidden existence. The brothers gave the deepest human emotions a voice. They were resentful, vengeful, reckless, full of complexes, malicious and petty - in such an authentic way that it was painful to see. This is why the simple people loved them."
