Tusk's appropriate gesture at the wrong moment
Poland has announced it will give up its opposition to Russia's accession to the OSCE. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has already informed the Russian side of this new stance. "We can afford to make this gesture without damaging Polish interests," Jerzy Haszczyński comments. "It's just a shame that the Polish prime minister chose such an unsuitable time to do this - the end of the election campaign for Russia's parliamentary elections in which President Putin was a candidate. After all, the main addressee of this gesture is fanning hate against the West and wants to revive the former passion for the Soviet Union. Both of these things are harmful to Poland. ... It's good that the Polish prime minister made this gesture, but it wouldn't be good if it was followed by another without first waiting for a serious response from Russia."
