Boris Tadic wins Serbia's presidential election
Peter Potocnik believes that Serbia, with Tadic as president, might accept Kosovo's independence 'with more dignity' than what would have been the case if Nikolic had won the election. 'Everyone is waiting for the decisive move in Pristina now: The Kosovo Albanians have already announced that they will declare Kosovo's independence. Then we need to wait and see how Washington and the EU respond. The government in Pristina thinks that it could have carried out the project more easily if Tomislav Nikolic had won. On the other side is the pro-European camp under Tadic, but he, too, opposes Kosovo's independence. Tadic is convinced he has better chances to conclude the issue of Kosovo without causing damage to Serbia after winning the election."
