Energy summit in Moscow
Russian correspondent Peter Fischer reports on the G8 summit in Moscow where energy was top on the agenda. "The conflict over natural gas with Ukraine roused the fears of other European countries that buy gas from Russia. Their strategy is to focus more on the market, an enforced diversification and multilateral protection of supply systems." The efforts to reduce one-sided dependence on energy supplies has revived the discussion about the peaceful use of nuclear energy. Russia is actively promoting this at present because it wants to reposition itself as a reliable supplier of electricty generated by nuclear power and as a constructor of nuclear power stations."
