How far should Russia be trusted?
For several weeks Western investors have been pulling their money out of Russia. The crash on Wall Street has only served to accelerate this capital drain, writes Die Presse newspaper: "For years Russian investors have been buying extensively in the West, because the country has a clear strategy for the time when oil prices sink. ... While European investors are being harassed or even excluded from Putin's empire, Russian money is just as welcome in European football clubs as it is in industrial corporations and Austrian Airlines. ... No one in fact knows whether the Kremlin is behind the Russian investors. But never fear: the political and economic elites of Russia profess their belief in the rule of law and the market economy. So there you go, we're pretty much in the clear."
