The new face of communism
Communism still exists, the daily Dnevnik writes, but it face has changed: "Communism is not just about labour camps, secret services, repression and a general lack of freedom. This idea is antiquated and belongs to the past. Today the new face of communism is everywhere we look - in cemented beaches, deforestation, and built-up green areas in cities. This is the new communism that hides behind 'strategic investors' and 'economic upswings'. What it has in common with the old communism is that the individual is left completely helpless in the face of clan and network structures. In some cases it is referred to as 'developed socialism', in others as 'prospering market economy'. But in both cases double standards apply - for people like us and for the others - and this brings the citizens onto the streets."
