Josef Kirchengast about the super-mega-gigalomania
According to the daily Der Standard modern-day megalomania is also to blame for the financial crisis. The paper therefore calls for a return to different values: "And now that there's so much talk of sustainability: every euro spent on education, qualification, integration and supporting innovative small and mid-sized companies, or in other words, on people directly will yield much higher returns than even the highest profits on the capital market. … So what comes after 'giga' if we have correctly understood the message of this crisis? A return to seeing the individual as the smallest and at the same time the greatest unit. Isolated human biotopes and protected workshops have no place in this thoroughly interconnected world. Globalisation obliges not only the decision makers in economics and politics, but also each individual to integrate the rest of the world into his personal lifestyle. And this is a big enough challenge."
