Protests against the election results in Moldova
The daily Dziennik takes a critical look at the violent protests in Moldova against the renewed victory of the Communist party in the parliamentary elections. Such a scenario is also a possibility in neighbouring Ukraine, the paper writes. "This is a foretaste of what could happen in Ukraine. Both countries are in a disastrous economic situation. And both nations have not the slightest regard for their rulers. … The young have had enough of the collapse situation in which the Republic of Moldova - the poorest country in Europe - has landed itself. And if there were any hopes that the situation would improve the crisis has crushed them. The government is weak and society doesn't trust it. The riots could be the beginning of a large-scale revolt. Moldova has nothing to lose. This makes it all the worse that Ukraine could soon follow in its footsteps. [For] it is possible that the gross domestic product there will go down by 25 percent."
