Afghanistan as a drill ground for Polish troops
The conservative Polish daily Dziennik writes that Poland must reappraise its military presence in Afghanistan, commenting that the country should follow other countries in demonstrating greater self-assurance: "Afghanistan is not your run-of-the-mill foreign deployment, it's a military training ground. For that reason we organise our deployment there in order to train our army for a possible defensive war. For strong states military operations are always tests for the entire army. They use them to try out new kinds of weapons and ammunition, as well as tactics, communications systems and other experiments. For the United States, the UK, France and even for the weakened Russia, military missions and wars are always a sort of training ground for troops, and for that reason are justifiably of interest. Poland, by contrast, has always exclusively been motivated by political considerations and international obligations in sending its army abroad."
