Allowing employees to take over state-run companies is absurd

Polish Minister for Economic Affairs Waldemar Pawlak, a member of the conservative Polish People's Party, has proposed privatising numerous state-owned companies and allowing employees to take them over. The left-liberal daily Gazeta Wyborcza criticises the plan: "He makes no effort to conceal his frustration at the fact that the government won't implement his plans. But how can it do this when they're just too grotesque? To have employees take over the companies (may) not be absurd. It would make perfect sense if the companies in question were less important ones that require only small investments. But unfortunately what Pawlak wants makes no sense: namely to privatise energy companies, coal companies and chemicals companies and have them taken over by their employees."
