Costs of immigration are being kept secret
The Dutch right-wing populist opposition party PVV has called on the government to compile a precise list of how much immigrants cost and what they contribute to the country. This demand has met with an indignant response from the established parties, but the right-wing liberal news magazine Elsevier welcomes the initiative: "It is imperative that the costs and benefits of immigration since the mid 1960s be examined. … Naturally the focus should be on non-Western foreigners, totalling two million at present, who on average have a (notable) presence on the lists of unemployment, social security benefit, crime and low income. … At the same time it's odd that among the thousands of social scientists, faculties and research institutes there are so few who feel the need to examine the less than positive results of immigration in a comprehensive study. Those who did were hated for doing so. Apparently the costs of immigration must be concealed in order to preserve the falsifications and myths."
