Too little discussion on the Internet
A US study has found that 91 percent of 1400 blogs investigated link to other blogs voicing similar political opinions, while just nine percent link to sites expressing contrary views. That makes it very difficult to find dissenting opinions on the Internet, writes the daily I Kathimerini in its Sunday edition: "This [study] is the best confirmation of the book Republic.com, which was written in 2001 and predicted ... that as opposed to classic mass media, the Internet does not allow contrary opinions to be heard - not because it's prohibited, but because users themselves don't want to hear them. ... The result is that there are no discussions, and no cases are made. On the contrary, all users are exposed to are echoes of their own opinions. They just read the opinions that agree with theirs. This produces fantastic news consumers, but no critical readers."
