Zidane, a mirror of the World Cup
Peter Nagy has no understanding for "the last big scene of Zidane's career in the World Cup final". "That he would react to the heckling Italian with such crude violence while millions of people were watching is beyond my comprehension. His gangster-like, idiotic performance on Sunday went terribly wrong. Was the idea to provide something new in the final scene of the final act – something that would always remain a mystery? That's dumb and unprofessional. What kind of a last memory has Zidane left in the minds of his fans with his inglorious butt?... There is much speculation about what Materazzi said to provoke Zidane's reaction – as if anything he had said could justify such a reaction in front of a billion 'festively-dressed' fans."
