Iran is flexing its muscles
In the midst of the current dispute over its nuclear programme Iran has provoked the international community by testing several mid-range missiles. The liberal daily Sme comments: "Iran is flexing its muscles ahead of Thursday's negotiations with four Western countries as well as Russia and China. That's the reason behind the missile tests. … This is hardly surprising after the announcement that Iran has no intention of talking about its nuclear programme. … The meeting is therefore likely to be fruitless. … [However] it will be interesting to see what Russia allows Iran's opponents to do. [Russia's] President [Dmitry] Medvedev has said that his country could support tougher sanctions against Tehran. But it's not clear whether he meant this more seriously than in the past. … Israel, which is under greatest threat from the Iranian regime, could lose its patience and take the solution into its own military hands. Then the Middle East could explode even without nuclear bombs."
