Managers call on the government to act
An economic summit took place yesterday in Slovenia between key politicians and around 500 managers from Slovenia's biggest companies. The managers made no secret of their displeasure with the government, writes the daily Delo: "What bothers them is the inordinate strength of the public sector, the strict labour laws, the credit crunch, and the bureaucratic and inefficient system for guaranteeing loans. ... [I]n short, the managers let the premier and his team know that the government's slow and inappropriate measures are harming the economy. The sole words of praise went to the government's extensive measures against the crisis, including subsidies for full-time work. The prime minister ... still has his work cut out for him in convincing the managers with hard and fast measures for boosting the economy."
