Security mania suits bin Laden just fine
Western states are increasingly curtailing civil liberties in the name of security and threatening a growing number of countries with war. The daily Dnevnik criticises what it sees as overreactions: "The goal of terrorists is to destroy our way of life. They want to impose on us a world without freedom in which we are under constant surveillance by the police, the army, security officers and customs officials. The terrorists are doing their work well. All it takes is for one of them to stuff 200 grams of explosives into his underwear and we do the rest: the whole world panics and soldiers are poised to invade yet another country. Human rights are now to be defended not only in Afghanistan and Iraq, but also in Yemen, and Osama bin Laden can sit back in his cave and grin with satisfaction."
