The problem facing young Finnish men
Finland is one of the most successful competitors on the world market, and its educational system has a very good reputation abroad. Finland also tops statistics for alcohol abuse and violence among youths. "Young people see work and leisure differently than their parents. They don't want their job to be the main thing in their lives, as the older generations did for so long. Instead, increasing numbers of young people look for fulfilment outside their work. Is it their disappointment at not fulfilling the expectations of their parents' generation, or their own idealised vision of achieving personal satisfaction in life that's making more and more young people throw in the towel?”
