OECD membership good for Slovenia
Slovenia will join the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on Thursday. The daily Delo highlights the advantages for Slovenia: "In the past we knew the OECD primarily for its sound economic and social statistics and its generally reliable data on other areas such as trade, taxation, population, the environment and so forth. Slovenia can reap considerable benefits from joining the Organisation. What use we make of them will depend on us. ... It remains to be seen if our politicians will show the wisdom necessary to implement the good examples and suggestions from abroad here in Slovenia. If they do, the two million euros for an annual membership are probably the best investment we can make to ensure normalisation and a better standard of living for our country."
