Lukashenko profits from Eurovision

The Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko is using the his country's entry in this year's Eurovision Song Contest, which features the performers wearing butterfly costumes for the song called Butterflies, for propaganda purposes, writes Martin Kala in the daily Postimees: "We're like butterflies, flying to the sun. The sun will never let us look inside. I believe I believe that this will open up, but at the right time. Heartfully just wait for it, it will come. This is my free interpretation of Belarus's Eurovision entry this year, one of the most impressive. ... The honey-sweet text forced into verse form may sound meaningless at first but it harks back to the songs of former times which on the surface appeared apolitical but concealed a hidden message. ... Obviously President Alexander Lukashenko chose the song personally since visual display both within his country and abroad is the only means of propaganda left open to him."
