Israeli-Lebanese conflict provokes fears
One Israeli reserve officer and three Lebanese were killed during fighting on the border between Lebanon and Israel on Tuesday. Four years after the end of the Lebanon war the fighting has triggered fears of a new war in the region. The left-liberal daily La Repubblica analyses the conflict: "It is an indirect confrontation between the Netanyahu government and Ahmadinejad's Iran. ... In any case it sets in motion an unstoppable mechanism, if not a real war. This is undoubtedly just one more hypothesis. But among the current hypotheses it is not one that has a soothing effect."
