The laws apply to King Football, too
The Netherlands and Belgium want to jointly host the FIFA World Cup in 2018 and are obviously prepared to make great concessions to this end. But the demands of the international football association FIFA go too far, the daily De Morgen contends: "Sure, international sports events cost a lot, both financially and in terms of organisation. It's logical that FIFA wants excellent stadiums, guaranteed security and smooth-running transport. But that it also wants tax breaks, that it demands that functionaries be exempt from paying taxes for hotels, taxis and even their underwear purchases - that has nothing to do with good organisation; it's just greed. Just like the advantages it demands for its own sponsors at the expense of local companies. ... Why should all the rivals of a particular FIFA sponsor be banned from their own country? ... No one is above the law, not even King Football."
