Pension law without fraud

Romania's President Traian Băsescu sent the country's new pension law back to parliament for renegotiation on Wednesday, after the constitutional court found no fault with the parliamentary vote on the law despite obvious voting fraud. The daily Adevărul approves of Băsescu's decision: "In his six years in office Traian Băsescu has continually been in a state of war with other government representatives. ... But there can be no talk of power conflicts now. What we are seeing is a full separation between society and the state. The population has no faith in the government or parliament, and least of all in the president. ... This separation between the state and society cannot be overcome by hammering with your fist. For the first time Traian Băsescu finds himself in the position of having to decide against his instincts. ... Such an important law should be signed without the suspicion of fraud hanging over it."
