Investors show up weaknesses of Romanian politics

In Romania the foreign businesses represented in the Foreign Investors Council (FIC) have presented a strategy paper on reviving the country's crisis-ridden economy. The local politicians lack the competence for such ideas, writes the daily Adevărul: "The colossal difference between the level of the current political discourse and the foreign investors' project shows just how grave the competence deficit in our parties is. That investors are willing to spend their own money so that our borders are better guarded against smuggling and counterfeit goods, or so that at least one large infrastructure project gets underway, shows how low the Romanian administration has fallen. The fact that the companies represented in the FIC produce 30 percent of the Romanian GDP with less than five percent of the total workforce reveals the full extent of the management crisis not only in the public sector, but also in many private companies."
