Bin Laden threatens Paris with last ounce of strength
Osama Bin Laden has threatened in a video message to attack France in retaliation to the French military presence in Afghanistan. That shows how weak the terrorist network al-Qaida has become, writes the left-liberal daily Libération: "Of course the authorities are right to react with the greatest composure. ... By the same token it would be over-reacting to envisage changing French policy in the slightest in reaction to these barbarian declarations. The head of al-Qaida has shown that he is capable of pushing back the limits of cruelty through mass suicide attacks such as the ones in Spain or Britain. ... Nevertheless the message the media are now diffusing have something paradoxical about them. Al-Qaida is strengthening its media presence as its operational efficiency seems to be growing weaker. These sinister threats are basically a sign of weakness."
