The voters are the problem
Even if Italy's Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi gave in to Gianfranco Fini's demand that he step down he will continue to be popular among voters, the daily Delo believes: "All parties have already calculated that they would probably win. Amidst all the phrasemongering one of the most level-headed experts on public opinion has added that politicians should keep cool heads and remember where they live. According to the polls, at least 40 percent of voters are still undecided about how they would vote. And only Silvio Berlusconi is capable of convincing the waverers. If he can persuade them that the country is doing well he will also be able to get their votes. Yet Italy's problem is not Silvio Berlusconi. ... The problem is the majority which elects him."
