Puppet masters in the US and China

North and South Korea are simply instruments for the major powers the US and China, according to the business paper Hospodárske noviny: "The North Korean military dictatorship has been on the verge of collapse for years. This could open the way for reunification on the peninsula. And precisely this is the problem, because that would be unacceptable to China. If Pyongyang were to fall the US would widen its sphere of influence and its missile bases would be right on the borders with China and Russia. This is why China is quietly backing North Korea's nuclear programme. ... The US for its part rejects a non-attack pact and the disarmament of South Korea because its missiles there keep China, Japan and the Asian part of Russia in line. Fortunately the North Korean nuclear programme is just a local rather than a global threat. ... The real danger comes from the stronger players in the background: the overfed yet stagnating US and hungry, growing China."
