A good visit
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and his Polish counterpart Bronisław Komorowski have warmed to each other in Warsaw, the liberal daily Gazeta Wyborcza writes with enthusiasm: "Russia's president has spoken to the Poles in an open and benevolent language which shows understanding of Poland's history. Several times he repeated that he is prepared to initiate a reappraisal of the difficult Polish-Russian past to pave the way for a joint future. Bronisław Komorowski made some good proposals: The renewal of reciprocal youth exchange programmes and the founding of the Polish-Russian Centre for Dialogue will in the long term do more good than all the politicians' pretty phrases. Komorowski's statement that [Russia's] modernisation should be aimed at improving the lives of its citizens and establishing the rule of law and a free market makes clear how Warsaw pictures the Russia of the future."
