Berlusconi has no serious opponents
One can't get rid of Silvio Berlusconi politically, because no one is brave enough to take him on in Italy, says the liberal daily paper, Mladá fronta Dnes: "It looked like the beginning of the end. Since the summer, the friendship with his ally, Fini, has been a thing of the past. When Fini left, he took three-dozen legislators and four ministers with him. The latest vote of no confidence was meant to confirm the divorce. But Fini's people were not so utterly sure they wanted to embarrass the government. And in addition, there's the economic crisis. So Berlusconi gets to stay on. ... 'I'm the best prime minister Italy has had in 150 years', he crows. And though he jokes around with Russian Prime Minister Putin that both of them will still be in power at the age of 120 - the secret of his longevity does not lie in any old home remedy. Italy simply does not have anyone who can compete with him and take him on."
