Prime Minister belongs behind bars
Italy's Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has managed to extricate himself from all of the scandals he's caused so far, the liberal daily Pražský deník writes, and hopes that justice will finally be done in the trial over a sex affair with a minor: "There is a myth that it is better for citizens when a rich man leads the country because he doesn't need politics to make him rich. In practice things are very different. A rich man is not someone who has a lot, but someone who never has enough. Berlusconi is a horrifying example of a rich man in power. If he didn't have a team of very good, expensive lawyers the prime minister, media mogul and owner of a football team would have long since been sitting in prison for tax evasion, bribery and abuse of power. Now Berlusconi is facing a prison sentence for a sex affair with an under-aged prostitute on whose behalf he even intervened when she was jailed for theft. ... As a matter of principle, if nothing else, it's important that Berlusconi should not escape justice."
