Equality doesn't make sense
The judgement of the European Court of Justice on gender-neutral insurance is wrong, writes the business paper Hospodářské noviny: "Insurance premiums are based on statistics. Women cause fewer traffic accidents than men do, and so they pay lower premiums. Men, by contrast, have shorter life expectancies, and so they receive higher monthly pensions. That's all reasonable and logical. The European Court of Justice's decision to ban differentiations between men and women is unreasonable and illogical. And what's more, it targets the insured. Insurance companies will no doubt use the enforced changes to raise premiums for everyone. So the Euro-judges' love for unisex insurance could end up costing a pretty penny. Help! Where can we insure ourselves against such a hyper-correct equal status?"
