Passivity escalates violence in Middle East
One woman was killed and over 30 people were injured in a bomb attack near Jerusalem's central bus station on Wednesday. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has resurged in recent weeks but has been neglected due to the Arab revolutions, writes the left-liberal news portal Rue89: "This return to violence is not in the least surprising considering how the entire region is seething. Recent events have rendered the dramatic impasse over the Palestinian question increasingly untenable. Their impact, in particular the fall of the Mubarak regime in Egypt, has been profound, both on the Israeli and the Palestinian sides. ... The surge in violence and the tensions we are seeing are the price of the inaction on the part of all the players in this conflict, as well as that of the international community, which is proving unable to defuse the situation."
